PA and Mixing tips and links

Basic Guide to Mixing

Terms Used

The Simple explanation
Snake
Multi core cable for extending mixer inputs / outputs from Mixer to Stage normally 10’s of meters in length, all inputs / outputs should be balanced to keep induced noise to a minimum (normally 3 pin XLR Male and Female connectors).

Balanced
Balanced connections use three cables it allows for the use of very  long cables by reducing the possibility of noise been added to the audio signal.

DI Box
Phantom power -
48v is supplied via the xlr input conector on the mixing desk to power some Microphones and other items that require power. Most microphones don not require power and will ignore the Phantom power. If it is not needed you can normally turn it off on the desk.

Masai warriors

Visted friends in Witney Oxfordshire, arrived in time to visit their Church "Oasis Family Church".

Some members of the Masai warriors African tribe are in the UK, staying in Oxfordshire.

One of the Masai was a pastor and teacher and gave a 10 mininute sermon which was straight to the point  and packed a punch that God had a plan and that we had the hands to carry the plan out.

A visit from the Masai has to include dance and singing. Their jumping and passion for the Lord is obvious in all they do.  David was selected to dance and jump with the Masai

One of the main reasons for the Masai in the UK is share their faith and raise awarness and funds to provide water.

“We are visiting schools as part of their curriculum.

“We are also raising some money for sinking some boreholes as there is a big problem with water at home.

“We don’t have enough space now to move, as we used to move from place to place to find water. Now children are settling in school, you can not move schools so easily. This money will be enough for one borehole that would improve the life of the whole community and make everyone happy.”
